Maine Conservation Voters / Alliance welcomes Sarah Woodbury as new Legislative Director

AUGUSTA, ME – Maine Conservation Voters (MCV) and Maine Conservation Alliance (MCA), leading environmental nonprofits working in tandem to protect the health of Maine people and the environment, are proud to announce Sarah Woodbury as their new Legislative Director. Sarah will lead the organizations’ lobbying efforts and oversee Maine’s largest environmental coalition – the Environmental Priorities Coalition – to drive state policy that advances climate action, conservation, and environmental health and justice. 

“I’m thrilled to welcome Sarah to the team. Sarah’s skills and experience in advocacy and communications will strengthen our work to ensure that Maine is a place where nature and people thrive,” said Executive Director, Maureen Drouin. “We need strong advocates, like Sarah, in the face of the federal government’s dismantling of environmental protections. Maine’s role in safeguarding clean water, ensuring healthy air, conserving wildlife, and implementing clean energy solutions is more important than ever.”

Prior to joining MCV and MCA, Sarah served as the Vice President of Policy and Advocacy at Defend Our Health, where she achieved major policy victories to protect the health of Maine people, including laws to remove PFAS from consumer products and address PFAS contamination of drinking water and farmland. 

“MCV and MCA have long been a leading voice for bold policy solutions to environmental issues,” said Sarah. “I’m excited to continue that work and build on a proud legacy of meaningful environmental advocacy, recently including the most significant investment in climate resilience in Maine’s history and one of the most aggressive 100% clean energy goals in the nation.”
